Breast Cancer Screening with Medicare

The awareness of breast cancer has flooded the social consciousness over the last several decades as people of all ages and cultures have been afflicted.  So many people have a personal story to tell about them or someone they know suffering with this cancer and overcoming or succumbing to the terrible disease.  Because of the nature of this situation Medicare does offer regular services for at risk women to be checked.

The mammograms that are used to diagnose the cancer are covered once for women that are between the ages of 35 and 39.  In addition to this if you are over the age of 40 you will be able to get tested once every 12 months so that you can try to prevent the onset.  You will pay 20% of the Medicare approved amount for the procedure, which is the standard approach that Medicare takes to most screenings.

This is a very important test to have done on a regular basis when you reach the ages mentioned so don’t put it off.  Remember that you won’t be out too much on the financial side and if you are it will be well worth it to prevent the onset and save your life.  You could be one of those people telling your own inspiring tale of how you overcame this situation in your life.
