Why would I want to switch to a different Medigap policy?

Medigap policies can be a savior when you are in a situation in which your Medicare coverage will not cover your needs.  Being able to pay a monthly premium to ensure that your finances will survive an emergency medical need is a good thing.  However, from time to time there may be reasons to want to change or switch your Medigap policy and here are two of them:

  1. You are paying for benefits in your Medigap policy that you don’t need and won’t use at any point.  Don’t waste your time and money on things that won’t benefit you, especially with insurance.  Get the coverage that you need for the situation you are in and move on to the next big thing in your life.
  2. Medicare is generally an insurance coverage for senior citizens and in our senior years things tend to add up, financially and medically speaking.  Chances are as you get older there will be more things that you will need coverage for and when this is the case you must get new Medigap coverage.  Make sure you have what you need and your health is your top priority in your life.
