Can I keep my current Medigap policy if I move out-of-state?

Having the right Medicare and Medigap coverage can be stressful if you are relying on the coverage to help you stay healthy.  As more and more conditions and ailments pop up in your life you want to make sure that you are still covered if things get worse.  With this being the case you need to make sure that your Medigap policy is still effective in certain situations, one being when you happen to move out of state.

The thing to remember is that as long as you still have original Medicare you can keep your Medigap policy wherever you go.  The important thing is that you do not drop your Medicare policy or stop making payments to make it ineffective.  At this point you would run in to a lot of trouble keeping your Medigap policy regardless of the state or area of the country you are living in.

What you will need to do after your move is contact the insurance company that is providing you with your Medigap policy if you do want to switch.  Tell them about your situation and see if there is anything that they can offer you that would be comparable to your current policy.  If so you are all done and have successfully moved and kept up with your Medigap policy.
