Skilled Nursing Care is Covered by Medicare

There are many different ways that you can get someone to take care of you or a loved one when the situation merits the care. Not all situations provide the same level of care and this is what you should be aware of when the situation calls for intense care. Medicare does cover skilled nursing care and if you are wondering what that means it is defined below.

“Skilled nursing care refers to a level of care that includes services that can only be performed safely and correctly by a licensed nurse (either a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse).” Don’t expect to have care from someone that is nothing more than a good person to help you get out of a chair to be covered, in other words.

What Medicare is willing to do is pay people that are qualified to care for you to do so. What Medicare is not willing to do is pay people that don’t want to become educated in caring for others. Consider this when you are deciding if you need the help of a skilled, qualified nurse or one that is simply “cheaper”.
