Texas Medicaid Coverage for Prenatal

There are times where you or a loved one may not be able to qualify for benefits from Medicaid or Medicare but you can get partial benefits.  This is something to look in to, especially if you happen to be pregnant in the state of Texas and you don’t have health insurance.  The following is a look at a few of the benefits from Texas Medicaid and their “CHIP Prenatal” coverage:

  • Up to 20 prenatal visits are covered to make sure that the mother is periodically being checked up on.
  • Prescription drug coverage based on the current CHIP formulary.  This means that you are getting whatever drugs or vitamins you may need to handle your pregnancy.
  • Hospital facility charges and professional services charges related to labor with delivery only. Preterm labor that does not result in a birth and false labor are not covered benefits.
  • Two postpartum visits for the mother.  This is a coverage that should not be underestimated and should be taken advantage of by the mother.  You may not realize you are having any postpartum issues until you have a checkup.
  • Regular checkups, vaccines and prescriptions for the baby, meaning that your baby has a better chance of being healthy and prepared for the world.
