I do lots of charity. I cannot participate in Medicare because I refuse to volunteer for the NPI number that is required for participation in Texas. It is my opinion that since the NPI number does nothing to improve the quality of care for children, it is unethical to be a HIPAA covered entity. Since the NPI number also harms patients, it is counter to the Hippocratic Oath as well. Let’s talk about this. Darrell K.
