I think Medicare is at its greatest as far as choices and coverage. Now with vision and dental avalible. Private Insurances that I used to be covered by at former employers are now covering seniors and the disabled at approx the same coverage. I am a civil liberateran but vote democrat. I am opposed to a universal health plan. I know people in Canada and oather countries who wait 4-5 months for an M.R.I. If you think you have to wait a long time at the hospital E.R. Wait till there is free health care. People with nothing better to do will fabricate diseases and pains for attention and a free meal and room. Also junkies will have a free shot at a try at a Dr. so they can try every one in town at the working man and womans expence. Its not broken so dont try fixing our current system. We may have flaws, but not like socialized medicine. All Doctors and hospital employees are opposed to this idea. I am a disabled Respiratory Therapist and worked at a local hospital for 9 years and as a LPN for 3 before being disabled in a car accident. I still speak to hospital staff and voulentueer at a few Dr.s offices and we have discussed this topic in depth at every facilaty. No one that I have spoken with is in favor of this outrageous expence to our country.

I'm five months pregnant and my husband has been laid off since November. I went and applied for the pregnancy medicaid and food stamps. Well we recieved the food stamps but because I own a car that is worth $5,000 I can't recieve the medicaid. I don't understand that. I can't get any help because of that. I have absolutely no income but maybe if I was some woman on drugs living of the government with 6 kids by 5 different daddies I would be good to go. Can someone explain this to me?

I am on SSI disability $963 per month as of NOV 2007. Nov 2008 is when i become eligible for Medicare coverage, meanwhile, I am having extreme difficulty w/my medical bills and the drama w/reinstating my medicaid coverage for the 3rd time. I DO NOT understand "spin down". I DO understand that my unpaid medical bills must be 3X my monthly SSI, however; I have never been assigned a casworker to communicate with regarding my status, how the figures are calculated or ANYTHING. I recenly rcvd a letter stating my medicaid was "reinstated" for the time period

3/31/08 to 5/31/08. The notice came on 5/27/08.
