3 Facts About Medicare Enrollment 2013

It is that time of year for Medicare subscribers (and all those that carry health insurance) to enroll for the coming year’s coverage.  There are many things that stay the same with your coverage from year-to-year and this may not be a surprise to you.  However, it is important to remember the following three things about Medicare enrollment 2013.

  1. Remember that coverage options and limits will change from year-to-year so it is important to pay attention to what you are getting.  It is possible that your premium and deductible could rise, but it is also possible that they will stay the same or slightly fall.  It is up to you to know.
  2. It is vital to remember that Open Enrollment is from October 15–December 7, 2012.  You do NOT want to miss these dates and take the chance that you don’t have the coverage you need, or worse, no coverage at all.
  3. Keep in mind that any new enrollment or changes to existing enrollment will not take place until January 1st, 2013.  Regardless of if you enroll in October or December, the effective dates of the policy will not begin until the beginning of 2013.
