Mother has been in a skilled nursing facility for 4 years. She is 94 (95 in January). She cannot walk, cannot dress herself, cannot feed herself, is incontinent, and has dementia. In January, her long term care insurance runs out. I don't know how we'll (myself and sister) pay for her care. I was hoping to apply for medicaid to make up the cost difference after her SS and post office pension are paid. I can't seem to find the information I need to apply for aid. Should I hire an attorney or is there a good web site where I can get information that isn't bogged down with government speak?

My mom has cancer(lung and brain) she now needs 24hr care and we don't want her in a rest home. She lives alone and recieves SSI and a pension from her job that she worked for over 25yrs. With that income she is over the limit by 328.00 and does not qualify per NC standards. Her bills does not allow her to hire a fulltime or partime care partner. Is there any way she can qualify for Medicaid? Thanks
Mom is still able to "ambulate"

I am in dire need of a new wheelchair. I got this one about four years ago and have really used it. It is falling apart on me. My husband and my son have been doing repairs on this one for so long there is nothing else they can do to it. I have tried to get one through Alliance Medical in Albemarle, NC where I got this one but with no luck. I understand medicaid will only pay for one after so long, but what do you do if you need one before then. I am overweight and can't walk and if this one continues to fall apart I don't know what I'm going to do. I really, really need one as soon as possible. My doctor gave me a prescription to get one but it didn't do any good. Please help me.
