the Medicaid dental coverage is a BIG JOKE!!!! I am currently sitting here with a cracked and broken tooth as well as teeth missing and cavities, and do you think I can find a local dentist that takes medical assistance? The answer is NO!!!!! The closest doctors that will take it is over an hour away, and then they are incompetant idiots!!!! Most are from a foriegn country and you can't understand a word they are saying, and they don't listen to what the patient has to say.....I had one such doctor at a smile center. I initially told him that if the tooth needed a root canal, to just pull it, well he decided to drill it out and fill it like a regular cavity, needless to say, within 3 months if not shorter, I was back in there with an absessed tooth, which he then proceded to pull and then made the statement I knew this would happen because it should have had a root canal!!! Yes, he said that to my face.....needless to say I have not been back there, and can you blame me!!!! I just this morning called over 10 different dentists, and I only found one that took medical assistance, but guess what????,,, they weren't accepting new MA patients!!!!! So, in short, We on medical assistance and medicare DO NOT receive dental care as others do. We have to accept incompetant foriegn idiots whom we can't understand, or we get no care at all!!!!!! In the mean time I am sitting here in pain and yet can receive no care at all unless I travel over an hour away and accept an idiot for a dentist!!! Well, stop and think, if I could afford the gas to travel that kind of distance when I need dental care, would I be on medical assistance? Wake up!!!!!!!
