CMS Opens Up Competitive Bidding

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that the initial rollout and registration is now open for companies interested in competitive bidding for medical equipment (specifically DMEPOS).

Below is an excerpt from the CMS website:

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule on April 2, 2007, that will improve the accuracy of Medicare's payments for certain durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) through a new competitive bidding program. View the final rule.

It is very important that all DMEPOS suppliers who intend to submit a bid for the DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program complete an initial registration. Suppliers will submit bids using an internet application, which will be posted on this Web site. This registration process will ensure the privacy of your bids. We strongly encourage suppliers to complete their registration immediately to avoid any delays in submitting a bid once the bidding window opens in late April. Please click on "Register to Use Application Now" below for additional information including instructions, a Users Guide for the registration system, and a link to the registration system. If you have any questions about the registration process, please call 877-577-5331 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. EST Monday through Friday or 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST on Saturdays.
